Why Mechanically Anchored Linings Fail

  1. Water and H2S are always present behind lining.
  2. If a breach occurs, rising water level pushes H2S gas out.
  3. Water level lowers, sucks H2S and O2 behind liner.
  4. Sulfuric Acid forms, attacks the concrete.
  5. Concrete becomes Calcium Sulfate (gypsum), crumbles away.
  6. The lining falls off.
