Why Coatings Fail
- Coatings are porous, allowing H2S gas, O2, and moisture through.
- Bacteria can also get through, colonize behind the coating.
- Bacteria turn the gasses and moisture into Sulfuric Acid.
- Sulfuric Acid attacks the concrete.
- Concrete becomes Calcium Sulfate (gypsum), crumbles away.
- The coating falls off.
